Marlies. I am so proud of you for making this video about your struggles and for finding the courage to post it. You are an incredibly strong, and resilient person and you have inspired me more than you know. I won’t pretend to know or understand what you are going through, but please know that you are not alone, and though our connection a virtual one, I am here for you. Please be kind to yourself, and try to see what it is that I and others see in you. You are strong. Courageous. Funny. Kind. Inspiring. Postive. Honest. Creative. Did I mention funny? And are an all around amazing human being. For you to have been able to maintain the positive outlook you have on life, despite the hand you have been dealt, is truly astonishing. Keep fighting and when things become unbearable, and you feel alone, know that I am here. You are incredible, Marlies and I love the hell out of you! xo

Wow! Thank you so much for the feedback. There are certain people in my life that weren’t impressed with the video but I don’t care. There was lots (obviously) that I couldn’t share in a 15 minute video and I think some people I know resent the fact that maybe I’m leaving certain things out. All I wanted to do was to share my experience from an emotional perspective. Thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot. I love the hell out of you too!! xo

It frustrates me to hear that you received that kind of feedback. Your post took courage. And you most certainly don’t have to explain what you left out AT ALL!! This is your experience and your voice. You don’t owe anybody anything, so you keep doing whatever is necessary to help you get through and overcome. Try and put them on mute, and don’t let anyone drown out your inner voice. Please keep doing exactly what you are doing!!

I’m so sorry. I cannot imagine having life derailed like yours has been at such a young age. We’re very close in age, you and I, and so much has changed since high school, in terms of my worldview and how I think and feel about nearly everything that matters. To be blocked at that 17 year old point…must be a nightmare. I am deeply impressed with your ability to maintain, to keep going, to find humor. I doubt I would handle the life you’ve been dealt with as much grace.

Also, I’ve certainly had my share of “ungraceful” moments! There is so much more to tell but I could only fit so much into a 15-minute video. Focusing on the positive and the light hearted things in life is a strategy I’ve only come up with recently. But it’s been the best strategy so far 🙂
