When you hear hoofbeats

You think horses, not

zebras.

You should not tell me what I think.

Why not think of donkeys?

I could think of many more animals right now

But I’m having trouble breathing.

When I hear hoofbeats,

I think of neither horses nor zebras.

I think of two hollowed out halves of coconuts banging together.

The migratory kind.
