Sleep tight, and keep sweet.
Whatever you do,
keep sweet.
No one who believes you
is standing in your corner.
No one who disbelieves you
is standing in your corner.
You must be as a thief in the night –
lie quiet in speech and in deed.
Also be beautiful, sweet,
agreeable, plastic.
Let those who believe
try to crush
that which lies within –
the indomitable.
Once those who believe
once those who crush
believe in their own deeds
let your sweetness flood them
like a raging, waking, paralyzing dream.
Because unlike Mother,
no one is ever
coming to save you.
You must do it.
Sleep tight, and keep sweet.
~Marlies Vonn
You do write the most thought provoking poetry, Marlies. I do believe someone is saving me, just not always in this life.
I also wanted to let you know I nominated you for The Mystery Blogger Award. (and no, it’s not for mystery writers 😉 ) I hope you’ll hop over to my blog, Pearl’s Pearls for all the info about the award. Have fun!
Hugs,
Pearl
